Dexcom G7 Updates & Dexcom Stelo | Interview with Dexcom COO Jake Leach
This year, Dexcom has unveiled groundbreaking advancements in Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) technologies. Fostering accessibility, the launch of the over-the-counter G7 CGM, requiring no prescription, stands out as a transformative step in diabetes care.
Speaking with Dexcom's Chief Operating Officer, Jake Leech provides insight into continuous enhancements for the G7 model. Leech, who has been pivotal at Dexcom since 2004, discusses evolving features such as direct watch technology, improved Bluetooth connectivity, and adhesive advancements in the G7 wearables.
Dexcom's latest addition, the Stell CGM, caters specifically to people with type 2 diabetes who are not on insulin. Aimed at reaching a previously underserved market, the Stell device offers a user-friendly, 15-day wear solution, eliminating hurdles such as insurance claims.
Engagement with users is central to Dexcom's strategy. Enhanced device features, rolling out roughly every six weeks, are testament to melding technology with practical insights sourced from consumer feedback. "We aim for continuous improvement," states Leech, highlighting serious undertaking to pilot symbiosis of device performance and user satisfaction.
With ambition to rationalize costs while broadening device lifespan, efforts undergo testing for extending durations qualifiers: from ten to fifteen days for wear specifics. Dexcom's toolkit now reaffirms a future trajectory seasoned with expanded collaborations and stand-alone product trials, optimally diversifying remaining limits of applied CGM solutions over past modes.
"Our goal is to bring life-saving and life-changing technology to as many people around the world as we can," - Jake Leech
